Adjoining the monastery is a small Retreat House with eleven private rooms each with a private bath. Retreats for clergy and laypeople are offered mid-week, Monday afternoon to Friday morning, and on weekends, from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. One week each month (usually the third week), plus the weekend which follows, are both reserved for women retreatants.

The retreat house closely conforms to the atmosphere of the monastery. The celebration of Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours frame the structure for each day with a generous amount of time also set aside for private prayer, reading and contemplative quiet. Conferences are given by a monk, who is also available for private talks and confession. Breakfast, lunch and supper are included.

There is no fee for a retreat. Retreatants may leave an offering according to means. Averages received range from $100 to $200 for a weekend and $200 to $400 for a midweek retreat.

The Abbey Retreat House is usually filled six months in advance. Reservations are accepted only for six months ahead. On the first day of any month, reservations are open for retreats for the whole of a month six months later. For example: for a retreat any time in January, call on the first of July. For a February retreat, call on the first of August. For September, call on the first of March, etc. Reservations are accepted only for two people at a time and should be made over the telephone with the Guestmaster on duty. We do not accept reservations left on the phone answering machine or by e-mail. The Guestmaster is available each day from 9-11 AM and from 1:30-7:30 PM. Please call 508.885.8710.
